Description
This piece has been a thorn in my side for three years. It started out as a beautiful piece. I had a super idea to use the varnish as a hidden text message as a part of the piece but it didn't work out like I had hoped. Mainly because I spelt the word that I was trying to spell.... wrong.
Yup.
I had another idea to change it into more of a political piece but it never had the look and feel I was hoping for. It was so labor intensive as well. So many drips, over 35 layers of paint..... So one night when I had come home from work late and probably not in the best of moods....
I destroyed it.
I have taken black paint and spattered it EVERYWHERE. It was therapeutic but didn't do much for the painting. In fact, it was awful. I couldn't even take a photo of it. Why document a tragedy right?
So last night, 1AM and unable to sleep I took a walk in my studio. A few strokes here and there turned into a color marathon. The effort worked and I was finally relaxed enough to sleep for the night.
This morning, I woke to the piece you see. I like it. The texture from three years paint layers is amazing behind the final color blocking and I feel like the piece speaks to where I am in my life right now.
I finally like it and I hope you do too.

Dear Jacqueline, After you congratulated me on my sale, I looked at a lot of your work and this piece grabbed me, although I don't know exactly why. It just does. It's like nothing I would be doing myself, but it speaks to me, somehow.
