This piece is dear to me for many reason. I used an 3 year old canvas that was covered with flattened preserved oak leaves that I was never happy with.
When my good friend Ren� Nd�bi expressed how he had to be strong for his Grandmother on the anniversary of his Mothers death, he described it as, [I need to be her oak tree, her ocean, her lion, dove and candle.]
Knowing that I finally had an inspiration to use the old canvas, I raced to my studio and began creating Ray's ocean and flaming sun among the oak leaves affixed so many years ago.
I dedicate this piece to you Ray in an extension of my friendship. We may never meet but you are dear to my heart and will always want the best for you.
You and your family are in my thoughts on this tragic day.
